If I had to pick a three word illiteration to describe my life right now I'd pick 'White Winter Waiting'. The white of winter in North Dakota is vast and simple. The abundance of white makes the colors of a red yield sign, a pink snowsuit, a brown squirrel stand out more starkly. Waiting is vast and simple too. I'm primarily waiting for a visa for Joseph to be able to come to the U.S. but along with that I have to wait to find out where and when our wedding will be, what my next job might be, where we might live. It's okay to wait. It's okay for there to be so much white. It's okay for life to be so simple, just waiting and white. Of course, I miss Joseph, I miss my friends in Mozambique, I miss bright orange mangos, deep green forests, golden yellow pineapples (the small ones), multi-colored wraps on womens heads.I wish I knew that all my wedding planning and scheming would happen. I long to pursue dreams of working in early childhood education in Africa. But still, it's okay to wait in this white. In fact, it's a blessing comparable to the way the morning sunshine makes the white frost on my bedroom window brilliant.
