shingirai

Sunday evening... My sister asked me to put more pictures of Joseph on my blog. Now, that sounds like a good Sunday evening activity: give people a glimpse of some of the happiness of my life. My recent blogs have had a bit of a depressing note to them (rightfully so, considering that the topic was death.) But a Sunday evening after a lazy afternoon of reading and playing cribbage and fast srabble, needs a more light-hearted material. So here are some pictures that certainly make me smile.
This is one of the first pictures I have of Joseph. It was taken in Sena on the bridge that goes over the Zambezi river, less than a month after we'd started dating.

This is the most recent picture I have of Joseph. He took it himself last week while he was visiting his uncle. These are his cousins. (fyi for our technical minds, this uncle is actual his father's cousin making these girls his second cousins.)

Some character pictures...

This was taken last June.
Random fact: When Joseph hears a song that he likes, he puts it on repeat for hours. I have discovered that his sister does the same. So does Brooke. Some of his favorite songs have been: Leaning on the Everlasting Arms, Down to the River to Pray (both by Full Table), By and By (by Selah), Humble Me (by Norah Jones), American Pie, Beyond My Wildest Dreams (by Emmy Lou Harris and Mark someone)

This was on a hike on the Gorongosa Mountain.
Random facts: Joseph doesn't know how to swim. He likes playing soccer a lot. He's likes playing games like cribbage and Boggle. He is now a Lost fan.

This is Joseph last June with his mother.
Random facts: He gets excited when Manchester United wins soccer games and when singing Shona hymns.

In February.
Random Facts: Joseph grew up in the mountains of Zimbabwe, a landlocked country so when he moved to Mozambique three years ago he saw the ocean for the first time. Some day he'd like to have a farm and raise animals.

This is a picture of Joseph in Maputo when he went to South Africa last year for training. He works at a Shoprite store in Beira as a loss control manager. It means he does stuff to make sure they're not losing money.
